Squid Game: Creator Confirmed Season 2 Is Happening

Hwang Dong-hyuk, the creator of Netflix’s global drama Squid Game confirmed the show will return with more Gi-hun Adventures, as APEntertainment confirmed on their Twitter account:

Dong-hyuk revealed that the pressure to make Season 2 was too big and that he feels like he has no choice. He revealed that he’s currently planning how and where the season will go.

“So, there’s been so much pressure, so much demand, and so much love for a second season. So I almost feel like you leave us no choice. But, I will say there will indeed be a second season. It’s in my head right now. I’m in the planning process currently. But I do think it’s too early to say when and how that’s going to happen.”

Squid Game debuted on Netflix last September and it quickly became the global phenomenon. In the first month of its release, it was watched by 142 million households, which makes it the biggest Netflix project.

Season 2 is in early development. It’s still TBA when it’s going to debut, but knowing that it’s on the way will surely make fans excited.

Created, written, and directed by Hwang Dong-hyuk, Squid Game is starring Lee Jung-jae, Park Hae-soo, Wi Ha-joon, Jung Ho-yeon, O Yeong-su, Heo Sung-tae, Anupam Tripathi, and Kim Joo-ryoung.

He calls them "the four rulers of the fantasy genre." He loves to write about anything spawned from those franchises (books, games, movies...), as well as anything branded with the Marvel or DC logo. Video games and their adaptations are also something he follows faithfully since he's a big fan of story-driven single-player games like Assassin's Creed, The Last of Us, Uncharted, etc. His favorite video game ever is Red Dead Redemption 2.
