Shenron is the first dragon to appear in history. He comes to Earth when the seven Dragon Balls are reunited and the person holding them summons him using a spell. Shenron can then grant a wish, within the limits of the power of the Almighty, and then withdraw. The seven Dragon Balls are then dispersed to the four corners of the planet and again become simple stones for a year, at the end of which they become usable again.

Millions of years before the story of Dragon Ball unfolded, the sorcerer Bibidi freed a monster named Majin Buu in order to dominate the universe. This one turned out to be totally uncontrollable and attacked the Kaio Shin (the gods of the universe, obstacles to Bibidi): he killed those of the North and the West and absorbed that of the South (the strongest).

It then took an imposing form. He finally absorbed Dai Kaio Shin. The latter having a peaceful and good heart, the character but also the physique of Majin Buu changed completely: Buu became chubby with a childish character. Buu was then locked in a cocoon by his master, terrified of the creature.

The only survivor of the massacre, the youngest Kaio Shin (the one from the East) found Bibidi and killed him during his sleep to leave Buu forever locked in his cocoon hidden on Earth.
