Bleach: Did Bazz-B Kill Toshiro?

Bleach: Did Bazz-B Kill Toshiro?

Regarding Bleach characters, Toshiro Hitsugaya is one of the most popular characters in the series, despite being only a secondary character. Kubo liked Toshiro a lot and was quite happy to see the youngest Captain of the Gotei 13 become so popular. He has been called the most talented Captain of the Gotei 13, and Kyoraku theorized that he could potentially surpass all of the other Captains when he grows up. Still, as he is still a young boy, Toshiro often has problems controlling his powers and abilities, which was a cause of many tense situations in the past. Several of these situations took place during the Quincy Blood War, and while Toshiro had his Bankai stolen by Cang Du, a more dangerous fight ensued between him and Bazz-B, the Sternritter “H” (“The Heat”), in which Hitsugaya was mortally wounded. What happened in that fight? Did Bazz-B kill Hitsugaya? Keep reading to find out!

No, Bazz-B did not kill Captain Toshiro Hitsugaya, although he did wound him severely, possibly even mortally. Without his Bankai, Toshiro was simply unable to do anything against Bazz-B’s Burner Finger technique, which is why Bazz-B managed to pierce his chest and slice him with his attacks; Cang Du’s arrival stopped him from killing him, and Toshiro would soon regain his Bankai and defeat Cang Du, but he still fell on the ground due to his injuries. Mayuri later healed him after having been de-zombified.

The remainder of this article will give you a detailed overview of Toshiro Hitsugaya’s fate in the Bleach series, especially his fight against Bazz-B. You already know what happened and how it happened, so we will just bring you the details so you know the whole context. Be careful, though, as the article will contain many spoilers, so if you don’t know all the details, be careful how you approach the text.

Had Cang Du not intervened, Bazz-B would have certainly killed Toshiro

After losing his Bankai to Cang Du, Toshiro Hitsugaya went back to the basics and honed his skills to that he could be useful in future battles, even without his Bankai. Now, since his Zanpakuto had the least difference between the Shikai and the Bankai – i.e., the only difference was the amount of ice produced.

Toshiro actually deduced that he had to find a way to fight with less ice, and combining his and Rangiku’s powers – the powers of her Zanpakuto, Haineko – he managed to come up with a plan that his Lieutenant (much to his annoyance) dubbed – Operation Millefeuille. With that plan, the two of them could fend off the Soldaten of Yhwach’s army, but when came Bazz-B.

During the second attack on Soul Society, Bazz-B faced Toshiro Hitsugaya and Matsumoto. This was actually against Yhwach’s orders, as Yhwach ordered those Sternritter that stole the Bankai to kill their respective Captains, and since Cang Du stole Hitsugaya’s Bankai, Bazz-B was basically budding in, but since Cang Du was not around, he did not mind.

As expected, Bazz-B recognized the 10th Division’s Captain as “the ice Captain” from whom Chang Du stole the Bankai. Since Buzz-B is known as “The Heat,” he found this encounter highly interesting, and a fight ensued between the two.

Despite losing his Bankai, bazz-B was surprised that the commander could defy and even injure him. This resulted from Operation Millefeuille, as Toshiro combined the small amount of ice he could create with the ashes of Rangiku’s Haineko to create powerful ice barriers and attacks. And while that would work against many enemies, Bazz-B’s element was fire, so while he had some initial trouble during the fight, he could break Toshiro’s ice, which prompted the Captain to retreat.

But, as Bazz-B activated his first Burner FInger, he could pierce the ice and Toshiro’s chest. Toshiro froze his wound and ran away, but the captain was down when Bazz-B activated Burner Finger 2 and slashed Toshiro’s torso with it. Bazz-B, thus, managed to defeat Toshiro Hitsugaya with relative ease, but just as he proceeded to kill the Captain, Cang Du arrived and reminded Bazz-B of Yhwach’s order to the latter left, leaving Cang Du to kill the already heavily injured Captain.

But, as luck would have it, at this exact moment, Urahara sent his Shin’eiyaku to the Captains, and as Toshiro touched, he not only regained his Bankai, but he also regained a lot of additional energy.

Ready to fight once more, not against an enemy who did not have such an obvious advantage, Toshiro Hitsugaya could use his Bankai to defeat Cang Du, forcing him to retreat. Afterward, though, he fell down on the ground unconscious, and it was not specified whether he was mortally wounded or simply exhausted.

At some point, Giselle Gewelle, the Sternritter “Z” (“The Zombie”), would find him barely alive and turn him into a zombie with her special power, later using him as her pawn while battling against Captain Mayuri Kurotsuchi.

So yes, Toshiro Hitsugaya was able to survive the fight against Bazz-B but was turned into a zombie by Giselle until eventually defeated and healed by none other than Mayuri Kurotsuchi himself. Mayuri was a genius, and he quickly figured out a way to save the zombified Captains, ultimately healing them back to normal.

Toshiro was in such great shape later that he could help in the fight against Gerard Valkyrie and activate his true Bankai, which also made him look a bit more adult. He would, of course, survive the war and return to his duties as the Captain of the 10th Division of the Gotei 13, and he is officially alive and well as of the time of writing this article.
